             According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) North Sumatra, the province produced  13,805 tons of candlenut in 2021 . The largest producing region was  Dairi Regency , contributing  6,684 tons—nearly half of North Sumatra’s total production . This was followed by Karo (2,307 tons), Mandailing Natal (863 tons), Simalungun (703 tons), North Padang Lawas (442 tons), Deli Serdang (430 tons), Toba (392 tons), Humbang Hasundutan (348 tons), Samosir (322 tons), and South Tapanuli (288 tons).
